Angling results for summer 2019

Now we have the angling results for last summer. Totally 1559 fishes were angled in Litlaá river but this is insignificant change compared to last year. In lake Skjálftavatn 688 fishes were angled which is about 4% decrease from last year. In the river-lake area totally 2247 fishes were angled but in last year 2281 fishes were angled and therefore a little decrease in the total.

Numbers until late June 2019

The summer has been good at Litlaá river and lake Skjálftavatn. At June 27th 1081 fishes had been angled in the river-lake area, 886 in the river and 195 in the lake. This is approximately 8% increase from the same time last year. In Litlaá were angled 743 trouts and 143 arctic chars but in Skjálftavatn 26 trouts and 169 arctic chars. As usually, there are considerable number of big trouts and arctic chars in the river and the lake.

The first day in the angling season at Litlaá was yesterday, April 1st. The day was very good despite some snow. Totally 148 fishes were angled (and released), many over 70cm! This is extremely good with 5 rods. On the picture is one of the anglers, Stefán Hrafnsson, with one big trout.

Angling results for summer 2018

Now we have the angling results for last summer. Totally 1566 fishes were angled in Litlaá but this is about 9% increase compared to last year. In lake Skjálftavatn 715 fishes were angled which is about 12% decrease from last year when 817 fishes were angled. In the river-lake area totally 2281 fishes were angled but in last year 2255 fishes were angled and therefore a little increase in the total. Many anglers got big trouts and arctic chars this summer as in earlier years. About 40 fishes were bigger than 70 cm and thereof three bigger than 80 cm, the biggest 82 cm or 6 kg according to conversion tables.
